Oath taking of IPMR in the municipality of Janiuay
The first ever Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of the Municipality of Janiuay assumes office on March 11, 2019 as a regular member of the Sangguniang Bayan of the said municipality.
The oath taking of IPMR David L. Amador with Mayor Jose Lam De Paula of the municipality of Janiuay was witnessed by NCIP Regional Director, Ana N. Burgos and staff, LGU employees and members of ICC.
IPMR Amador is a member of the Bukidnon Indigenous Cultural Community (ICC) of Janiuay. He was selected to represent the eight (8) IP communities from Brgys. Atimonan, Barasalon, Canawilian, Yabon, Kuyot, Ubian, Kipot and Matag-ub (Ati). He will serve a term of three years.
The assumption of office of IPMR Amador is one of the milestones for NCIP Region VI through the leadership of Director Burgos in pushing for the recognition of the rights of the IPs for self-determination as this is the first IPMR for the province of Iloilo.
